Scarfo named Rookie of the Week

Union freshman forward Ryan Scarfo was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

It's the second time this season Scarfo has picked up the award.

Scarfo had two goals and an assist in Union's 3-1 win over Sacred Heart in the Frozen Holiday Classic consolation game on Sunday. The two goals and three points both marked single-game highs at the collegiate level for the 20-year-old. The performance earned Scarfo a spot on the Frozen Holiday Classic All-Tournament team.

The North Chelmford, Massachusetts native has four goals and four assists in 18 games with the Dutchmen, who resume play Saturday at top-ranked Boston University. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Network (U.S.) and TSN3 (Canada).
