by Ryan Fay

Union senior forward Daniel Ciampini was named ECAC Hockey's Player of the Month for January, the league announced late Monday.

It's the second consecutive month that Ciampini has been awarded the honor.

Ciampini captured the honor for January after pacing all ECACH players in points with 18, a figure which was also tied for the national lead. His 11 goals led the country.

His best outing came on Jan. 24 against RPI in the third annual Mayor's Cup game. With three goals and three assists, Ciampini helped the Dutchmen re-claim the Mayor's Cup trophy with an 8-3 win.

The performance also tied a school record for points in a game and pushed the Concord, Ontario native over 100 points for his career. He's one of 12 Division I era Dutchmen to reach that milestone.

The strong month helped Ciampini take over the national lead in goals (22) and points (41) for the season.

St. Lawrence freshman goaltender Kyle Hayton earned the other two monthly league honors, Rookie of the Month and Goaltender of the Month.
